无核方柿是临安市昌北山区特有的优良柿种，因呈方形又无核而得名。世代相传已逾二百余年，全区最高年产可达50余吨，株产可达500－1000公斤。 昌北无核方柿经济价值很高，全身是宝。柿果色泽美丽，甜美爽口，涩味极轻，有降压止血，清热滑肠之功效，其维生素A、C的含量比苹果、梨高。焙制的柿霜，治咽喉干痛，口舌生疮，肺热咳嗽，咯血等症。刈取这柿汁用米汤或牛奶调服可作高血压中风倾向时之急救。 柿蒂可治因寒凉引起的打呃不止。柿叶中维生素C含量，每一百克鲜叶含2700毫克，比枣、柑桔、猕猴桃高10－50倍，经加工制成柿叶茶，可防止动脉硬化，治神经衰弱失眠。柿皮烧成炭用植物油调和治烫伤有奇效。柿花还是良好之密源，柿木细而坚硬，可制优质家俱。夏日，柿树叶大茂密，可遮阴纳凉，是绿化的理想树种。 繁殖方法是以丁香树为砧木进行嫁接，三至五年即可见果，农民很有好感。
